Contained in this section is a great deal of information and Applications that are required for you to apply for the right type of mooring for your situation.

If you are a natural person (not a business or corporation) seeking to apply for a mooring for your own personal use, you will need to download the MSQ - Buoy Mooring Application, MSQ Fact Sheet - Buoy Mooring Authority application and the MSQ Fact Sheet - Restricted Buoy Mooring.

If you are a business or corporation using a mooring as part of the ongoing operation of your business, please download the MSQ - Buoy Mooring Application, MSQ Fact Sheet - Buoy Mooring Authority application and the MSQ Fact Sheet - Unrestricted Buoy Mooring.

If you wish to apply for a mooring or tourist operation structure as part of your commercial operation in the Marine Park, download the relevant information under Great Barrier Reef Marine Parks Authority.

"Further Information" contains essential guidelines for you to make decisions on which operator and what type of mooring you wish to install.

The National Moorings Network shows how our state of the art mooring (Helix/Block and Seaflex) is future proofing your mooring based on the recommendations of this group as part of the environmental and safety concerns of the historical and outdated technology employed by some operators.

5.3.2 of the Dampier Moorings Handbook will give you a guideline for the "Minimum Standard" that you will want your Mooring Contractor to employ when building your mooring. Remember that the "Weight in Water" of the concrete block is half of the "Dry Weight." (i.e. a two tonne concrete block is approximately one point two tonne in water)
